In this edition, there is no comma after "gnaw", "memoirs" is spelled thus, and the line beginning: "2dly" ends "an account of".

"Except for the titlepage, this appears to be identical with the preceding entry [i.e. Gaines 6f]. ... It could be argued that this is the earlier, and that 'memoires' represents a correction, in that the subtitle on page 43 begins 'Democratic memoires'". (Gaines)
