'An essay on man' has a separate title page bearing the imprint: "printed by John Wright, for Lawton Gilliver", MDCCXXXIV" [1734], and is a reissue of the separately published edition of that year; the 'First satire of the second book' is also a reissue (without titlepage) of the separate small folio edition of 1734

Griffiths points out that in 'An essay on man' due to a blunder in the composing room sig. L1 (p. 43/44) repeats the contents of sig. K2 (p. 43/44), so one leaf had to be discarded. In some copies K2 is retained, in others L1 is kept. Some copies contain both leaves
