- Issued in parts from 1789, then collected into more or less annual volumes; the first three volumes reprinted in [1792].
Titlepage to vol. 1 is engraved; other volume titlepages, which are undated except for the final volume titlepage, in letterpress are in parallel Latin and English: the English beginning with 'To [dedicatee] this [volume number] volume of the Naturalist's miscellany ..'.

- Reprints of vols. 1-3 (the last having plates dated at latest July 1792) known and recognised as thus: vol. 1, first descriptive page (for Psittacus porphyrocephalus) has last line beginning "provectiori"; reprint has "niori". Vol. 2, first descriptive page (for Mus saliens) has catchword "pilis"; reprint has "valde". Vol. 3 has reprinted titlepages (Latin and English) but not reprinted parts; the reprinted titlepages are identified by (in the English title) "The naturalist's miscellany" as one line while the original English titlepage has "naturalist's miscellany"
