A reissue of part 1 of the 1657 edition (Wing S5243A), with a cancel title page and a dedication leaf after title page. Contains twenty-seven short odes by Thomas Stanley, based on chapters 1-26 and 28 of the "Eik-on basilik-e". Authorship of the Eik-on basilik-e was originally attributed to Charles I, but according to Madan (pp. 125-33) it was written by John Gauden who probably included some authentic writings of the king
