Authorship of the Eik?on basilik?e was originally attributed to Charles I, but according to Madan (pp. 125-33) it was written by John Gauden who probably included some authentic writings of the king.
Twelfth issue, 2nd state; title words "solitudes" and sufferings" are printed with swash "u"s; chapter 1 heading begins with "Vpon". This edition includes prayers and an "Epitaph" on p. 200.
