- Vol. 1 contains twenty-seven short odes by Thomas Stanley, based on chapters 1-26 and 28 of the "Eik?on basilik?e", the authorship of which was originally attributed to Charles I, but according to Madan (pp. 125-33) it was written by John Gauden who probably included some authentic writings of the king. ; vols. 2-5 contain Stanley's odes set to music by John Wilson.
