- Based on: Molire's "Le dépit amoureux" and "Les Precieuses Ridicules" and Corneille's "Le feint astrologue", which in turn was taken from "El astr-logo fingido" of Calderon. Also taken from Quinalt's "L'amant indiscret", together with some hints from Shakespeare. Cf. Halliwell's Old English plays.
