Note
Etched and engraved throughout. There is no title-plate. The title is constructed from Kirby's 'Historical account ...' (1748), and the imprint is taken from plate [1]. The plates were published at Ipswich.

These plates were originally intended to illustrate a history of the county which Kirby planned, but which was never published. Instead, Kirby issued 'An historical account of the twelve prints...' (1748) as a modest gesture in that direction. These plates, and the accompanying pamphlet, appear to have been Kirby's first publications, and were issued shortly before he moved to London and began to establish himself as an artist, teacher and author.
