The statement of authorship is on a slip pasted over the original one, which read: "By two dignify'd and very eminent doctors.".

- Though the titlepage states that the sermons were preached "about 40 years since", which would make the date of publication about 1720; however Sharp, who is referred to as "now Archbishop of York", died in 1714, necessitating the postulation of an earlier date
