- According to the introduction, this poem was found among the papers of the editor's grandfather, along with an explanatory letter from the author, signed "A. M.", reporting Milton's comments on the poem; the editor suggests the authorship of Andrew Marvell; it is not included in H. M. Margoliouth's edition of Marvell's poems and is probably an 18th-century work. (MH-H)
