On the stage of Drury Lane Theatre, Dorothea Jordan is comforted by the Duke of Clarence to her left, who says:
My poor Dear little Pickle
Bl__t the Lubbers I wish I had
them Lash'd. fast to the main Rigging
I'd give them a Dozen a piece
Jordan replies:
Indeed I was indisposed ["was" struck through and replaced by "am"]
Upon my Honor
On the right in a theatre box William's brother George, future King George IV, says:
Never mind Brother Ill
Clap her
Jordan's liaison with the Duke was controversial and sometimes led to demonstrations in the theatre. In the box above him theatre goers shout:
