BALDWIN (ANN), bookseller in London, Oxford Arms, Warwick Lane, 1698–1711. Widow of Richard Baldwin. Dunton [p. 260] writes of her: "Mrs. A. Baldwin, in a literal sense was an help-meet and eased him of all his publishing work; and since she has been a widow, might vie with all the women in Europe for accuracy and justice in keeping accompts. ..."

BALDWIN, ANNE. This was the widow of a certain Richard Baldwin, who had the official privilege to publish the debates of the House of Commons from 1681 to the end of the century. According to Dunton he was originally a bookbinder in the Old Bailey, but later set up as a bookseller in Warwick Lane. Owing either to ill-fortune or mismanagement, he was constantly on the verge of bankruptcy. He died about 1700, and the business was carried on by the widow. Her advertisements are frequent until 1711, but after that I have not found any.

BALDWIN, ANNE. Plomer gives the date of the death of her husband, Richard Baldwin, (I), as 1697/8. Her imprint, dated 1698, appears on a 'History of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.' She and her husband were in business at the Oxford Arms, Warwick Lane.
