FLEXNEY (WILLIAM), bookseller and publisher in London, near Gray's Inn Gate, Holborn (?), corner of Southampton Buildings, Holborn, 1760 (?)–1808. Succeeded Thomas Trye (q. v.) in this old-established house, which had been founded by Richard Sare in 1684. Flexney was the original publisher of Churchill's Poems, and also of Warburton's pamphlet, an Enquiry into the Nature and Origin of Literary Property, 8vo., published in 1762.
