Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums ABDAG002199
Early in his career, Frith specialised in depicting incidents in the lives of historical literary subjects. This painting represents Lady Mary as a young mother kneeling down at her father's entrance to ask his blessing. See "Introductory Anecdotes, by Lady Louisa Stuart" in The Letters and Works of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu (1866).
