SPAVAN (GEORGE), bookseller and publisher in London, (1) opposite St. Clement's Church in the Strand; (2) Crown in Ivy Lane in the Strand. 1745–50. Publisher of pamphlets of all kinds, and also of The Musical Miscellany, a collection of songs. On one occasion he was indicted for dealing in questionable literature. [State Papers Dom., Geo.
