RIVINGTON (CHARLES), junior, printer in London, (1) White Lyone Court; (2) Steyning Lane. 1746–90. Third son of Charles Rivington, publisher (1711–42). Articled to Samuel Richardson the printer and publisher (q.v.), on August 9th, 1746, and afterwards succeeded to his printing business. He was appointed City printer in 1771, and resigned in 1772. Timperley says that "he carried on an extensive business for thirty-two years in Steyning-Lane, in a noble house which had formerly been the residence of a Lord Mayor" (p. 770).
