MONTAGU (RICHARD), book and pamphlet-seller in London, (1) Wild Street, near Drury Lane; (2) Book Warehouse, The General Post Office, end of Great Queen Street. 1728–49. First heard of in December 1728, when he petitioned for the post of messenger to the printing-press. [S.P.Dom. George II, Bundle 9, 71.] In 1748 he published a pamphlet entitled Observations on the Probable Issue of the Congress at Aix-la-Chapelle. [B.M. E. 2042 (3).]
