Anodyne Tanner, the fictitious author of a satirical work purpoting to be the biography of one of London's most notorious bawds:The Life of the Late Celebrated Mrs. Elizabeth Wisebourn, Vulgarly call’d Mother Wybourn (n.d.). The bookseller's name on the imprint, A. Moore, is also fictitious. "Anodyne" Tanner is meant to be understood as Francis Tanner, whose works advertised the quack medicines sold at the sign of the Anodyne Necklace.
