Colley Cibber and Shakespeare
by John Leech
19th century
British Museum 1890,1110.16
Although the drawing is labelled "Colley Cibber and Shakespeare," it seems more suited to Alexander Pope, who was caricatured as an ape due to his stature and who was mocked and scorned for his edition of Shakespeare.
